How it’s built
The block is a 3 × 3 grid. The middle of each side is a quarter-square triangle unit (an “hourglass”), made of four triangles.
Each side unit has two star-point triangles and two background triangles: eight points in all.
Sewing tips
- Make the quarter-square triangle units from squares cut 1¼ in larger than the finished unit, two at a time.
- Sew the block in three rows, then join the rows, matching the seams at the star points.
